research, biotechnology, chemical synthesis research, and

& Portfolio Research's recent survey of 54 major metro areas,
Richmond had the second-highest concentration of Fortune 500
headquarters per million residents. The recently announced
relocation of MeadWestvaco's corporate headquarters from
Connecticut to Richmond is further testament to the viability of
